The Investiture Ceremony of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata was held on 10th July 2019. The appointed School Council Members were ceremoniously given their badges as a mark of recognition. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp along with the school choir’s rendition of Anondoloke Mongolaloke followed by some inspiring words from Principal Ma’am. The programme commenced with the slow march of all the six houses of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata namely Chenab, Ganga, Jhelum, Kaveri, Narmada and Teesta. The contingents were led by the Prefects followed by the Vice Captains and finally the House Captains. Next the school Appointees marched down the aisle led by the Sports Vice Captains followed by the Sports Captains, Vice Head Boy, Vice Head Girl, Junior Head Boy, Junior Head Girl and finally by the Head Boy and Head Girl. Principal Ma’am led the House and the school appointees through the oath taking ceremony. On this occasion the Head Boy and the Head Girl shared their thoughts and objectives through a speech. The School Council was congratulated by everyone present there and the programme concluded with the vote of thanks.

The entire family of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata came together to appreciate the efforts of the students for their tireless hard work and dedication through the Scholar Badge Assembly for Classes 5-7. The special assembly began by lighting the lamp and invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The school choir sang the welcome song which was followed by a dance performance to the tune of the Rabindra Sangeet, ‘O Jonaki ki shukhe oi dana duti melecho’. Our Principal ma’m, Mrs. Joyoti Chaudhuri addressed the august gathering after which the Scholar Badge Awards were presented. A total of 138 students were awarded for their relentless efforts. The special assembly was organized to appreciate them as well as to congratulate them and to keep them inspiring for their future endeavours.

Chrysalis, the annual youth fest of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata, was held on 6th July 2019 in the school premises. Fifteen schools including the host team participated in this much awaited interschool event which entered its 8th chapter.
The fest was initiated by Ms. Joyoti Chaudhuri, Principal, Delhi Public School Ruby Park, who spoke on how organising a fest teaches students valuable life skills. They learn to have a vision and to work together in harmony as a team to turn that vision into reality.
Along with gripping events like Inquizition (quiz), Aperture (photography), Slam Dunk (basketball), Kick-Off (football), Ping Pong (table tennis), Cerebral Conundrum (debate), Let’s Make Money (trading event), Checkmate (chess), Pitch Perfect (product pitching), One Minute To Fame (talent Show) and Allegro (western band), the school hosted unique events like Cuisine Challenge (no fire cookery), Graffito (graffiti making) and Mind Matters (a psychology event). The latter was a first in the school fest circuit in the city.
Gracing the occasion as judges were eminent personalities from various walks of life.
Stalwarts from the business world like Mr. Pritam Kumar and Mr. Venu Gopal Mukkamala, eminent photographers Mr. Prodyut Bhattacharjee and Mr. Siddhartha Ghosh, artist Mr. Biswanath Dasgupta, chefs Mr. Gopal Sethi and Mr. Nikhil Merchant, musicians Mr. Rahul Haldar and Mr. Avik Ganguly, experts in psychology Mrs. Shakuntala Biswas and Mrs. Rashmi Mantri, entrepreneur Ms. Swati Gautam, well known theatre aficionado Ms. Gitanjali Alagh and Mr. S.V. Raman, a name to reckon with in the debating circle .Ms. Sharmishtha Dasgupta, Mr. Debashis Bose and Mr. Jimmy Tangree luminaries of the media world were present as judges for Pitch Perfect, Aperture, Graffito, Cuisine Challenge, Allegro, Mind Matters, Cerebral Conundrum and One Minute to Fame respectively.
Renowned quizmaster Mr. Samanway Banerjee conducted ‘Inquizition’, the quiz programme of the day.
The participating schools were Calcutta International School, Abhinav Bharti High School, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, The Heritage School, Delhi Public School Newtown, Delhi Public School North Kolkata, Sushila Birla Girls’ School, Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Akshar School, Future Campus School, South City International School, Apeejay School, Park Street and the host school, Delhi Public School Ruby Park.
Organising an event of such magnitude requires hard work and dedication by the students as well as their mentors. Such a platform inculcates confidence in young, ambitious minds and imparts invaluable life skills.
For the first time, the fest was organised in association with The Telegraph Young Metro and 91.9 Friends FM, and like the previous years it was a grand success. It provided a great platform for the students to showcase both their talents and leadership qualities and helped motivate the young minds to ‘Rise from Within’.
‘Cerebral Conundrum’, the Inter-School debate, saw Mahdevi Birla World Academy emerge as the victors followed by DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL ,RUBY PARK and THE HERITAGE SCHOOL sharing the runner-up position. Allegro, the western band event, was won by DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL , RUBY PARK. The winner for Mind Matters, the Psychology Event was DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, RUBY PARK. Cuisine Challenge, the no fire cookery event saw DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, RUBY PARK take the first position. The event on photography, Aperture, was won by RAMAKRISHNA MISSION VIDYALAYA, NARENDRAPUR. The Talent Show, One Minute to Fame was won by KANISHK DESAI of DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, RUBY PARK. Slamdunk, the basketball event saw both the boys as well as the girls teams of DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL , RUBY PARK emerge victorious, while in Kick-Off, the inter-school football for boys, DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL RUBY PARK took away the trophy. In Ping Pong, Table tennis, DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, RUBY PARK took the first prize for boys as well as for girls. Checkmate, the chess tournament was won by LAKSHMIPAT SINGHANIA ACADEMY. In In’Quiz’ition, the inter-school Quiz, DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, NEW TOWN emerged victorious. Graffito, the graffiti event was won by DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, RUBY PARK. In Pitch Perfect, the Product Pitching event, DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL , NEW TOWN & THE HERITAGE SCHOOL were the joint winners. In ’Let’s make Money’, an event on trading simulation, DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL , RUBY PARK emerged winners.
THE HERITAGE SCHOOL emerged the second runner-up while SUSHILA BIRLA GIRLS’ SCHOOL finished as first runner-up. DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL , RUBY PARK took the trophy for overall champions but passed it on to the first runner-up in a gracious gesture.

Reverence 2019-Day 1

REVERENCE 2019, THE 16th ANNUAL FUNCTION-DAY 1

Reverence 2019, the 16th Annual Function of Delhi Public School Ruby Park,Kolkata an occasion of celebration and felicitation was held on 27th April 2019 and 28th April 2019.
The Chief Guest on Day 1 of the two-day extravaganza was Ms. Roshni Sen, who is the 3rd Principal Secretary at Department of Technical Education, Training and Skill Development and has designed programmes like the Kanyashree Prakalpa and implemented the Utkarsha Bangla, a Skill Development initiative. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest ,the Guest of Honour, popular Bengali columnist, lyricist, poet, singer and director Shri Chandril Bhattacharya who is also one of the main lyricists and occasional singer of the renowned Bangla band, Chandrabindoo, President of the School Managing Committee Shri S. S. Agarwal, the Pro- Vice Chairman Shri Alok Tibrewal and the Principal Smt Joyoti Chaudhuri .This was accompanied by the chanting of the Ganesh Stuti.
An enchanting rendition of Ma Saraswati Sharde by the school choir comprising 80 students invoked the blessings of Maa Saraswati and set the mood for an enthralling evening of brilliant performances by students . A well-synchronised rendition of the composition ‘Through the clouds a peek at the enigmatic animal world below’ was presented by the school orchestra that comprised 80 participants. The Principal then highlighted the achievements of the students in the previous academic year through an impressive power point presentation extolling the zeal and commitment of the school towards nurturing talent and inculcating the values of perseverance and dedication. She also thanked the parents for their continued support in the various programmes and projects initiated by the school.
The highlight of the day was the Prize distribution ceremony – the rewarding of the sincere and relentless efforts of the students in academics. Students of classes 1-6 were felicitated with Blue Blazers, Gold Badges , Honour Badges and the Prizes for Special Attendance. A total of 300 students received the various awards.
It was then time for the audience to enjoy the in-house production ,‘The Jungle Book’. An ensemble cast of 600 actors, dancers, singers were involved in the vibrant and entertaining stage adaptation of the timeless classic by Rudyard Kipling, the tale of Mowgli.Filled with humour and excitement, the play highlighted the struggle of good versus evil, the worth of friendship and the importance of loyalty and other values required for survival.
The program came to an end with the Vote of thanks and the singing of the National Anthem.

5th International Day of Yoga celebrated on 21st June, 2019(Friday) at ANNEX Avenue, Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata. The Programme started at 11:40 am and continued up to 12:40 pm. The students from classes 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th and 8th participated in that programme. Total no of students were 65.
The 5th International Day of Yoga programme started with the Inaugural Ceremony of “Ganesh Vandana”. After that an inspiring speech by Principal Ma’am and a special speech about Yoga Day by Sir Sourav Gangully. The programme schedule in detail is enclosed.
There were different yogic practices. The practice session had started with three times OM chanting. The detail Yogic practise schedules were as follows:-

World Music Day 2019

World Music Day 2019

Music gives soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. World Music Day or Fete De La Musique is an annual celebration of music and an occasion for which people are urged to play music in public places. This year, students of DPS Ruby Park Kolkata organised a Musical Extravaganza on 21st June, Friday. The programme started off with Saraswati Vandana followed by a power point presentation showing how this day aims to make all genres of music accessible to people through a medium of free music concerts around the world. Students of different classes presented a spectacular Musical show with great enthusiasm and enthralled the audience by rendering melodious songs, Piano recital, group Violin, Tabla lahara, Solo Guitar and ensemble etc. The programme ended with the school Western Band singing Wolves.
This celebration of music not only played a vital role in the overall holistic development of the students but also created awareness among the children about the importance of music in our life.

North – East Trip 2019

North – East Trip 2019

A Trip for the summer vacation was organized for the students of Classes 6 to 12. The trip involves 34 Students with 3 Teachers. The destination chosen was the North Eastern states of Meghalaya and Assam. The Trip Started on 30th May 2019 from Kolkata and reached Shillong by the evening. The Local sightseeing of Shillong included the beautiful Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls. It also included Laitumkharah Cathedral, Don Bosco Museum, Wards Lake and State Museum. Students enjoyed marketing in the Shillong Bazaar in the evenings.
Students were mesmerized by the beauty of Mawlynnong Village; the Cleanest Village in Asia located 80kms from Shillong. The students enjoyed viewing Living Root Bridges and Tree Houses.
Visit to Cherrapunji (one of the wettest places on the earth) was an lifetime experience. Students experienced viewing the Mawsmai Caves and Seven Sister Falls.
Visit to Guwahati included the sightseeing of Kamakhya Temple. The most enjoyable part of Guwahati was the Brahmaputra River Cruise.
The trip ended on 4th June 2019 with students having lots of happy memories to share.

OVERTURE, the farewell programme for the outgoing class 12 batch of DPS Ruby Park was held on Sunday, 24th February 2019. Different competitions and performances were organised for the students of class 12. Teary-eyed but with hearts filled with hopes for their upcoming ventures, they crossed the threshold of their alma-mater.

Saraswati Puja, the festival to celebrate the goddess of learning and music, was celebrated with much enthusiasm and vigour by the students and staff of Delhi Public School, Ruby Park on 9th February, 2019. Everybody came together on this auspicious day of Vasant Panchami, which also marks the advent of Spring Season. The colour yellow (basanti), signifying the season of spring, was prevalent not only in the traditional attires worn by students and staff but also in the aesthetically designed handmade decorations (under the guidance of the Art Department) by the students using environment friendly material. Students of Classes VII-XII attended the puja and offered pushpanjali to seek blessings from the goddess for their forthcoming exams.
The entire campus had a festive look and all the decorations and arrangements for the puja were done by the students. The serene ambience, the artistically done alpanas, the sound of conch shells, the chants of the sacred mantras, melodious devotional songs sung by the students filled the air of AV Annexe Hall during the cultural programme performed by them. The students shouldered the responsibility of all the arrangements for the puja under the guidance of their teachers.
The celebration helped the students to stay in touch with the customs of our country, learn the qualities of team work, leadership and cooperation as well as strengthen the bond between students and staff of the school.

Keeping the tradition alive, Delhi Public School Ruby Park organised a special assembly on the occasion of the 70th republic day of India. The event commenced with hoisting of the national flag by our hon. Chief Guest Brig. Samir Varma followed by the recitation of our national anthem. The spectators were then welcomed by a melodious rendition of “Ae mere pyaare watan” and “Dhono dhanno pushpo bhora” by our school choir. Subsequent to this heart warming presentation was an address by our Principal ma’am. This was followed by a speech delivered by the pro vice chairman Shri Alok Tibrewal. This was followed by a skit by the Hindi department depicting the events that led to the framing of our constitution. The next performance, the English play was an attempt to make today’s youth realise the essence and importance of this day while the Bengali play was a tribute to the fearless patriot, Matangini Hazra. After this was a spell binding dance recital by our school dance troupe as a tribute to our gallant martyrs. Our hon. Chief Guest Brig. Samir Varma then delivered a speech reminding the youth about the role they play in the development of our country. Our vice Head Boy then concluded the event by delivering the vote of thanks.
