Pragya 2017

Delhi Public School Ruby Park organized an Inter School Literary Competition ‘PRAGYA-2017’ on 12th August 2017. The three categories for the same were ‘Recitation, ‘Extempore’ and ‘Kavya Antakshri’ in the National language, Hindi. 23 Renowned schools of Kolkata such as Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Delhi Public School Durgapur, Bharati Vidya Bhavan, DPS Newtown, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, DPS Megacity, South Point, The Heritage and others participated in the event.

The event started with the lighting of the lamp by the Honorable Principal Mrs. Anusree Ghose and was followed by an enthralling rendition of Ganesh Vandana by the students of the host school. Students of classes 6 to 12 participated in the different categories and mesmerised the audience with their recital of poems by various renowned Hindi poets.

There were three categories- Elocution, Extempore and Kavya Antakshri. Shreyansh Singh of Delhi Public School Megacity and Vedant Sharma of Army Public School Kolkata recited their own compositions carving a niche for themselves in the world of literature as well as won the 1st and 2nd prize respectively in Elocution. Harshita Gupta of M.B. World Academy the 3rd prize winner touched the hearts of the judges and the audience with her talk.

The audience were mesmerized with how eloquently_Satyam Jha of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School has conveyed his thoughts and has bagged the 1st position. 2nd and 3rd positions were secured by Prathit Singh of M.C. Kejriwal and Prachi Chowdhury of M.B. World Academy respectively.

G.S.S school bagged the first prize in Kavya Antakshri, 2nd prize won by the host school D.P.S Ruby Park and South Point stood 3rd.

Overall winner trophy of ‘PRAGYA ’2017 won by G.S.S Modern Girl’s School and the runner up were D.P.S Megacity, Shri Priyanker Paliwal, Smt. Sunanda Rai, Smt. Kalpana Jha and Shri Shrinivas Yadav ardent lover of Hindi literature, were the four judges for the occasion. The judges commended the students for their sincere efforts and motivated them to continue to grow in their knowledge and appreciation of Hindi Literature despite winning or losing.

The event ended with the announcement of the winners followed by the singing of the National Anthem and vote of thanks by Samreen Jain of class XI of the host school. All present highly appreciated the host school for providing such an enriching experience.

Raksha Bandhan 2017

Children of classes 2, 3 and 4 of DPS Ruby Park celebrated the spirit of Raksha Bandhan on August 4, 2017.

The programme started with the choir song and lighting of the lamp. It was followed by a dance performance by class 2. Children of class 3 participated in an English skit based on communal harmony. Children of class 4 took part in Hindi and Bengali skits to celebrate the bond of love between brothers and sisters. The programme ended with Principal Ma’am speaking a few words of encouragement for the children followed by the singing of National Anthem.

Scholar Badge Assembly 2017 (Class 12)

The Scholar Badge Assembly for class XII was held on 08.07.17 in the AVR Annex, in which 159 achievers from the science stream and 41 from the commerce stream (who had secured 90% and above in AISSCE, 2017) were felicitated for their stellar performances.

Reverence 2017

Reverence 2017, the 14th Annual Prize Day of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata was held on Monday, 1st May 2017. The Chief Guest for the day was the honourable Member of Parliament, Prof (Dr.) Sugato Bose while Shri Barun Chanda,eminent actor was the Guest of Honour.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest along with the Guests of Honour, President of the school, Shri S. S. Agarwal, Pro Vice-Chairman, Shri Alok Tibrewal and Principal Smt Anusree Ghose.

This was followed by the foot tapping Salil Choudhury number ‘Woh Din Hai Kitna Door’ rendered melodiously by 150 students from classes 2 to 12. The school orchestra presented a harmonious rendition of the ever popular ‘Chal Chal Chal’ and ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’

The Principal, through an impressive power-point presentation, highlighted the achievements of the last academic year. This year the Annual Report also included interviews of parents, teachers and students — the main stakeholders in the teaching-learning process, on their views about the aims and achievements of the school.

The main attraction of the day’s programme was the Prize Distribution ceremony in which 478 students from classes I to XI were felicitated for their academic achievements.

After the students were appreciated for their academic brilliance, it was time to showcase their excellence in the co-curricular sphere. Around 800 students presented the in-house production—–The Legend of Netaji, a drama based on the life of one of India’s greatest freedom fighters, Subhash Chandra Bose whose memory will forever be etched on the hearts and minds of every Indian as the leader and fighter who gave India, his sweat and blood to free it from the shackles of foreign rule and restore her lost glory. It is an attempt to motivate today’s youth to consider Netaji as a role model and imbibe his positive qualities of dynamism, determination and optimism. The audience was left spell-bound by the splendid display of talent.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks.
