Sanskrit Diwas was first celebrated in the year 1969. The central government recognized this day and notified the state governments about its celebration. This day is celebrated to spread awareness about the mother of all Indian languages, and the first of the ancient languages spoken in India.
DPS Ruby Park celebrated this day on 27 August 2010 with a cultural program. Students from many classes were called in as spectators. The Principal, Smt. Anusree Ghose presided over the gathering. The program started with a dance staged by a talented troupe to the tune of a Sanskrit prayer. This was followed by a short speech in which the significance of this day was explained to the audience.
A meticulous skit in Sanskrit, depicting a scene from the epic ‘Mahabharata,’ was presented. The senior school headmaster praised the students and teachers who staged such a wonderful play and whose collective efforts made the event a memorable one. |
