Delhi Public School Ruby Park celebrated the 70th year of India’s independence on 15th August, 2016,
with great pomp and joy at the premises of the Senior school.
The day began with the hoisting of the Tricolour by Brigadier Suchit Bandopadhyay, Brigadier Medical of the Bengal Area.
This was followed by a colourful cultural programme. The School choir roused the patriotic fervor of all present with its heartfelt rendition of patriotic songs. The next item on the itinerary was the Principal’s address wherein she reiterated the important role of the teaching community in nation-building.
The young Bulbuls of the school presented a musical extravaganza entitled ‘The Freedom Song’. The students put up an English skit on India in the past, present and the future, referring back to the horrifying Jallianwalla Bagh massacre. This was followed by a Bengali skit based on ‘Ananda Math’ by Bankim Chandra. The Hindi skit highlighted the role of women in the pre-Independence as well as in the era after Independence. The students put up a dance on a medley of patriotic songs and enthused all with their energy and verve.
The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks rendered by The School Administrator, Brigadier N.S.Mukherjee.
